Featured Image Support Added to WordPress for iOS

By December 3, 2012 Blog No Comments

Is it really important to have Magento store at a mobile? While we’re thinking, WordPress for iOS has just received a major update. Version 3.2 of the iOS native App adds one of the most commonly requested features – the ability to upload Featured Images for posts from directly inside the app. As long as the user’s theme supports featured images, users can now upload them using the uploader found in the Settings section of the app’s Post Editor.
Until the release of WordPress for iOS 3.2, this feature was only available via the web interface, so users that wanted to add featured images were forced to back out of the app and open a web browser if they wanted to add a featured image. This new feature is a massive time saver.
Other additions in this version of the software include the moving of preferences from within the device’s settings screen to inside the app itself (which should be a more familiar location for settings for most WordPress users!), and lots of bug fixes, including several stability enhancements.
The plan for future versions of the software is to move to “a more feature-driven release cycle, meaning that updates will come faster and focus on single features and enhancements”.
WordPres s for iOS is a free download from the iTunes App Store. The app requires iOS 4.3 or newer, and can be used for WordPress.com blogs, and self hosted WordPress blogs that are running WordPress version 3.1 or newer. WordPress users that do not have an iPad or iPhone may be able to make use of the Android version of the app, which runs on most modern Android smartphones and tablets.
